| US Bald Eagle coins 'doubling their worth' |
Gold enthusiasts in the US have been warned that time is running out for them to purchase a 2008 Bald Eagle commemorative coin.
The American Eagle Foundation has revealed that the US Mint will stop offering the coins to the public this weekend.
President of the body Al Cecere said that the coins are already selling on online auction sites for double their original US Mint price.
The gold coins have been released in order to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act.
Mr Cecere commented: "These valuable coins make perfect Christmas gift for every veteran, scout or eagle lover in America."
There are 29,000 gold five-dollar coins remaining, each featuring the In God We Trust slogan and images of bald eagles.
Recently, the Royal Canadian Mint announced it had produced four gold coins designed to honour some of the country's hockey players. more... |

| Treasure hunters uncover gold artefacts in north Wales |
Three metal detector enthusiasts have unearthed a gold bead and wire piece dating from the Bronze Age in a field in north Wales.
Joseph Perry, Billy May and Pete Skelly, all from Huyton, have previously uncovered a significant Bronze Age hoard, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The trio's latest find was discovered in Rossett, Wrexham, in August last year and is less than ten yards from the location of their original haul.
"Digging down just two inches, the two gold-looking items suddenly appeared," Mr Perry said. "It was a fantastic feeling."
In 2004, the three men found the Burton Hoard, described as the most important Bronze Age find in Wales in more than a century and shared a reward of £85,000.
Gold adornments from the Burton Hoard, found near the River Alyn in Denbighshire, are now on display at the National Museum Cardiff. more... |

| Gold handbags 'will be popular Christmas present' |
Handbags adorned with precious metals are set to be a popular Christmas present this year, it has been reported.
The items solve a problem for those who cannot decide whether to choose a handbag or a jewel as a gift, according to the International Herald Tribune.
Italian designer Roberto Coin incorporated his trademark yellow gold and ruby design into handbags in 2007 and has been selling them ever since.
He told the news provider he began the process by asking: "How can we make our jewellery into leather bags?"
His jewel-adorned bags, decorated with 24-c carat gold, start at around $25,000 (£16,709).
Mr Coin revealed he is putting the finishing touches to a 2009 collection that builds on the range of clutches he launched last year.
Meanwhile, Hyman Companies, which operates the Landau fashion boutiques, has revealed it is to stock a range of 14-c gold moissanite designs. more... |
